Author guidelines

General informations

Heteroptera Poloniae – Acta Faunistica et Systematica, published since 2009, is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that features original research articles, review articles, and opinions across all areas of heteropterology (Hemiptera: Heteroptera). These may include, for example:

  • faunistic monographs on various groups of Heteroptera from Poland, Europe, and other regions of the world;
  • comprehensive studies of the fauna of Heteroptera in specific areas of Poland, Europe, and the world (e.g. reserves, national parks, landscape parks, mountain ranges, urban areas, regions surrounding various towns, etc.);
  • faunistic notes of any kind;
  • new data on the biology and morphology of Heteroptera;
  • results of research on the classification and taxonomy of Heteroptera based on analyses of classical and molecular characteristics;
  • review articles on all aspects of heteropterology;
  • reviews and comments on heteropterological literature;
  • other interesting reports on Heteroptera.

The editorial team reserves the right to make changes to submitted texts. Authors will receive a copy of the published article in electronic form (as a PDF file).

Manuscripts should be submitted via e-mail to the Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. hab. Jerzy Lis (e-mail: cydnus@uni.opole.pl).

Authors whose first language is not English are recommended to have their manuscripts reviewed linguistically before submission.

Guidelines for preparing the text of manuscript:

  • a text prepared as an MS Word file;
  • Times New Roman 12-point font;
  • double spacing between lines of text;
  • standard margins (2.5 cm on each side);
  • no text formatting (no tabs, indents, bold or underlined text, and no text written in capital letters – small caps or uppercase);
  • the Latin names of species and genera are written in italics;
  • Latin names of species and genera, given at least once with the author and date of the taxon description:
  • tables prepared in MS Word format;
  • the photographs should appear in the text and also be attached as separate files;
  • All research articles should include the following sections:
  • Title, Author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and e-mail(s), Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion (or Discussion and conclusions), Acknowledgement (if any), and References.
  • In the “Short communication”, the sections: Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion (or Discussion and conclusions) can be omitted and merged into a single section.
  • References should be listed as follows:

Rules for the review of submitted papers:

The manuscripts will be assessed by two independent referees. Reviews are conducted anonymously on a single-blind peer-review basis.

Reviews of submitted manuscripts are carried out within 16 days on average.
